  The Hoosier Poems

Haiku

by Michael L. Smith

Haiku Number 21

A soothsayer's sigh
hummingbird at the flower
of a deadman's ear.

Haiku Number 19

She had me chasing
starfish, crabs and seabirds while
I feared her kiss.

Haiku Number 16

A cigarette thrown
to a night's highway burst to
a paved galaxy.

Haiku Number 14

From mon crips shadows
of tombstones, she turned away,
and I went with her.
