MSNBC / ReutersApproval of Peru's Toledo rises to 30 pct: "The survey, conducted in the capital by pollster Apoyo Opinion y Mercado on Friday and Saturday, showed Toledo's disapproval rating standing at 59 percent, three percentage points lower than in December. Eleven percent of those polled were undecided or failed to respond."
La Esquina del Movimiento (roughly meaning Street Buzz or, literally, the Corner of Movement) is
just outside the University Rector's Office on the main square of Ayacucho,
or Huamanga to those who love it best. It got that name because it's where the
students, professors and pueblerinos gathered to read the Lima newspapers,
talk politics and taste life. It was the epicenter of Huamanga's vitality
before the violence of the '80s and early '90s ravaged the town. Now Huamanguinos,
Peruvians and Peruvians at heart are scattered around the world so this
page -- and website -- tries to imitate that magic.
